Coronovirus Update

Dear Hoonah Families and Staff,

This evening, Gov. Dunleavy announced that he is extending the statewide school closure through May 1 in a continued effort to promote social distancing and keep all Alaskans safe. This time will allow school districts across the state to more fully develop an effective method of remote learning. For HCSD, this means we will continue our planning to deliver remote learning options for all levels. We will begin introducing a limited set of Educational Resources on our website to keep kids’ minds active and learning. We recognize the limitations of online delivery due to the lack of internet connectivity for many of our students. We also understand the impact this will have on our senior class. Know that out Hoonah team of educators will work hard to deliver the most effective educational experience under the current circumstances. Look for a survey to help us determine our connectivity needs going forward. Please take the time to complete this important survey. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding as we address this evolving situation.
